Did you read anything outstanding in the season of advent this year? If you did, why not let us all know in the comments section below? Here are the 2 books I read for advent this year. The meaning is in the waiting was especially good, with many gems to ponder over in the lead up to Christmas. Yet again, it involved a short bible reading followed by no more than 2 pages of thoughts about the passage. I don't have time for a book review today, but I found the final week which was based around, Mary the mother of Jesus, especially thought provoking.
"Mary is someone whose whole life was shaped by waiting......she was called into the way of waiting for Jesus' birth, for him during his life, and most of all, for his death."
In the last mention of her in the New Testament, she is still waiting, this time for the promised Holy Spirit.

This isn't an advent book but was recommended to me by a friend -
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.
Recounts the life and death of a simple yet dignified old man, Eddie. After dying in a freak accident, Eddie finds himself in heaven where he encounters five people who have significantly affected his life, whether he realized at the time or not. The author wrote the book for people who feel unimportant to realize, finally, how much they mattered and how they were loved.
