Several years ago when Iwona Grant was working as a Project worker with us (curtesy of the BBC Children in Need funding) she identified a need for some kind of group which would provide a focal point for friendship and support for parents of young children. It was called Time Out because among other things it was an opportunity for parents to have time out from their children who would be looked after in the creche. The group began (and continues every second Wednesday morning) and over the years it has gone from strength to strength with the creche and the church being full to capacity. The hall is laid out with various arts and craft tables - you can also learn to knit - and there is a steady supply of baking and hot drinks throughout the morning.
It is a good example of a way that a local church can provide a positive venue for families. It also provides an opportunity for church to offer practical support. A break from the children, a time for adult conversation and listening and an opportunity to learn and impart new skills. Some of the mosaics I saw this morning were quite stunning.

I have been attending 'Time out' for three sessions now, and really look forward to going! Having three children, the eldest being 4, life can be busy, for socialising, learning new things, so 'time out' really helps me to do that. It's a really wonderful group, with lovely female leaders, definitely highly recommended. Thankyou Hilton Church x
