The theme for the second day of the Lausanne Conference in Capetown was reconciliation, and this is what we will be looking at during our second cafe event next Sunday evening. I have spent a considerable amount of time today reviewing all the video clips from that day of the conference, in an effort to identify clips which will be shorter and snappier than last Sunday night. Reconciliation is a very messy issue. It touches all of us at a personal level, and on a global level we will be thinking about topics as wide ranging as genocide in Rwanda, child soldiers in the Congo and child prostitution in cambodia. A good preparation for this evening might be to read ephesians chapter 2 and to watch this clip from the Bishop of Kigali. It tells the story of how a country tries to come together after 1 million people are murdered in 100 days. On further reflection, the theme of reconciliation probably isn't the most family friendly one, so perhaps this Sunday we need at the very least a PG (parental guidance) certificate for some of the clips we will be showing.
