GLASGOW

I took a walk into the centre of Glasgow on the afternoon in which the Pope was celebrating mass at Bellahouston Park. It was the first time I had been in the City Centre for 17 years. I spent 4 years studying in Glasgow in the late 80's. It's a very different place now compared to then. The Centre is now full of coffee shops, shopping centres and even a multi-plex cinema. The statue of Donald Dewar stands at the top of Buchanan Street outside the Royal Concert Hall. It reminded me of Christmas 1989 when I was doing a training placement in Drumchapel. I was surprised to meet Donald Dewar when he turned up for the Church OAP Christmas Dinner. It was an insight for me into the more unglamourous side of being an MP.
