On the same day that 'Chemical Ali' was executed, a young boy called Charlie Simpson set off on a bike ride to raise money for survivors of the Haiti disaster. Charlie set his sights on £500. A day later and the total is approaching £120, 000. Two extremes of human contribution to society which couldn't be more stark.
