I'm writing this at 11pm, concious of the fact that Robyn and Palesa are now well on their way to Lesotho. Sunday morning was very special for us as a congregation as we celebrated together the remarkable way in which God has called them to go to Lesotho and the way He has provided for them. It has been wonderful to see the way that God has given vision and then provided as Robyn has taken steps of faith. Resources always follow vision!
The church was absolutely packed on Sunday morning, so I wondered whether it would be possible to introduce a number of interactive dimensions to the service towards the end. I needn't have been worried! In one part of the church we set up a table with bush tea and fat cakes (tesco dough nuts!), two basics of life in Lesotho. A sacramental act to identify with Robyn's new ministry. In another part of the church we had tables with post its for people to write prayers, and tables with candles for them to light as a symbol of their prayers being offered. It was heartening to watch the crowds of people gathering in different parts of the sanctuary, as the worship group continued to lead with various songs of worship. We have come a long way as a congregation over the years. It was great to see people sharing in such a relaxed way. I gathered up all the prayers on Sunday night and I will post them to Robyn to remind her of the love and the prayers which accompany her as she begins this adventure for God along with Palesa.
