Now that "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" is over (mercifully!), could I recommend a much more life changing reality TV programme. I watched the final episode of THE BIG SILENCE, and the impact of silence on each of the participants was actually quite remarkable.
John the Baptist is a major focus of the lectionary readings in this week of advent. He spent a lot of time in silent places out in the desert. I'm inclined to think that we need to look for places of silence, not only in the desert, but in the midst of our frantic lives. If the lives of the participants of the The Big Silence are anything to go by, the impact will be very positive.
